My vision is -4.25 in both eyes, which many people say is horrible, so why is not THAT bad.

Main Post:

I have -4.25 on both eyes but without contacts or glasses I can see most things pretty fine, not perfect detail as with contacts or glasses, but it's still good. People have said to me that this is horrible vision and that I'm basically blind.

Top Comment: My eyes are -1.5, you do not see "fine" without corrections.

NJ - Horizon NJ Health Davis Vision Copays 2025

Main Post:

Is there any database or annual guide for the copays / allowances for glasses? I need a new pair & it seems like every place I check has different guidelines / allowances for frames & different copay costs for add ons (coatings, thinning the lenses, anti scratch, polarization, etc).

(VisionWorks vs Cohen’s as an example - $70 allowance + the cost of lenses / add ons (coatings, anti scratch), vs $45 allowance + lenses / add ons)

Alternatively, is there a list of which places accept Davis through Medicaid? I know Davis is also offered through employers, and when I specify that it’s through Horizon NJ Health, that’s when they mention they don’t take our specific plan.

Located in North Jersey, if anybody has local suggestions. Apologies if this is worded poorly, this has all been very confusing, thanks in advance

Top Comment: Glasses are so expensive nowadays. If you're in a plan, you should be able to find your "plan documents" that should go over the copay info you need. Also, look into some online glasses shops like Zenni, Glasses Shop. They can be super affordable and, honestly, you'll probably pay less with them than you will at a store these days.
